Thirty years after Innova first launched the Roc, they now introduce their most torque-resistant version yet, the RocX3. Innova has given this legendary disc a low profile and a hefty rim to create extra control, making it the ideal Mid-Range for windy conditions and forehand throws. Power players will love the control. X-Factor fueled, the evolution continues. RocX3.

I find that the ROCX3 is so much better than the ROC. Don’t get me wrong, the ROC is so good, but having it in KC Pro plastic means that I have to throw it PERFECT to get it to fly and not roll over. I definitely understand why the overstable one goes very well. I am happy that I got STAR plastic as it is much less overstable then the Champion plastic. The grip is great and I know that I don’t have shorter life-cycling for this disc. I use this disc mainly for 300 foot shots. I throw it with a little more power, so it does have a little bit of turn to it. I find that the RocX3 is not for all beginners. You definitely require a lot of accuracy and precision when throwing this disc, so beginners may not get all the distance they want out of it. This disc is definitely one of my main mid-rangers. It just is more trustworthy in my bag than the ROC. I find that it is overall more comfortable. The plastic is just a tad less grippy than KC pro, but I find it great in the hand. I can throw this disc with maybe a little more power then require and it won’t work. Overall, a must-bag disc for amateurs. It will be a great disc to try and I am sure that there will be a 50% chance that you will bag it. By far my favorite overstable midrange ever. The disc flies very true to the numbers, and so far, I have not been able ti turn it over in the slightest no matter how much power I put on it (can turn over a regular Roc and Rancho Roc a fair bit at full power). The X3 just holds the line until it dumps left. On anhyzer shots, the disc acts like a mini-Firebird and can be flexed hard to go around trees. On a pure hyzer shot, the disc holds the line perfectly.

I love high fade / low glide discs, and the RocX3 doesn’t dissappoint. I currently bag a 176g Star version, but also picked up a 177g DX copy to break in and see if it does the normal Roc thing where over time it can take on a myriad of flight paths. Will report back once I know. I really hope it does as this disc is my preferred disc over all other Roc variants.

Out of the box, I would say this is a very non-newb friendly disc. It has such high fade, and a low enough glide, that an inexperienced player is just going to see fade immediately leaving the hand. I would suggest a normal Roc in a low weight for newer players.
